A New Mindset since COVID-19

Been so busy working with my personal training clients, seeing them face to face on a weekly basis that I neglected my blog – for years!  Now we are all dealing with this terrible pandemic. COVID-19 has altered our lives in a myriad of ways.

I will focus on the fitness industry, which is evolving to meet the needs of clients and potential customers now unable to go to the gym, parks, or to  community and recreation centers.  Personal training and group fitness classes have moved to an online virtual platform.  I am adjusting to this new reality and it is not easy. I love my job – especially the personal connections, interactions and social nature of training.

Many of my clients are seniors in independent living facilities – now told not to leave their apartments until further notice. The psychological, social, emotional and physiological effects present further challenges to all demographics.

How do we cope with this pandemic? A new mindset is needed – a call to action – in which we stop – savor, appreciate, breathe, move, cry, laugh – take each day – moment by moment, rather than be fearful, isolated and panic.  Stay connected, calm, compassionate, centered (all these great C words) – and we will be OK.
